COMPASSION

Q1 What is the main focus of your charity?

Compassion seeks out some of the world’s most vulnerable children and through individual sponsors provides them with the means to break the cycle of poverty. Working exclusively through local churches, Compassion ensures there is financial integrity, long term commitment and the opportunity for every child to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

Q2 How important are donations to your charity?

While Compassion UK is primarily a child sponsorship organisation, donations play a vital role in removing poverty’s barriers to effective child development. Through these donations we are able to complete our core programmes by tackling issues such as AIDS, malaria, disaster response and unsafe drinking water. As the children grow in a safe and healthy environment, they receive life changing opportunities to develop their God-given potential and be released from poverty.

Q3 What difference will the following amounts of money make?

  • £600 ($1,300 AUD) would buy 190 mosquito nets in Tanzania
  • £900 ($1,900 AUD) helps rebuild a home damaged by the earthquake in Haiti
  • £1,200 ($2,500 AUD) would buy seven computers for a project in Ghana

(These are examples only. Any actual funds raised may be used for other projects.)
