EMAIL TEMPLATE #1

Dear friends, I’ve once again signed up to ride in the Queenstown Classic on March 8-10. Like last year it will be 290km of pain and more pain. But it will be worth it, because every pedal I push will help assist vulnerable families at home and overseas. This year we have a record breaking 55 riders and

our goal is to raise $100,000. To do my bit I’ve set a target of $4000 and I need your help to raise it. Now for the penguin on a plane part. If you help me reach my target of $4000 I will board my plane to Queenstown wearing nothing but my cycling outfit. I’m talking about tights, cycling jersey, gloves, helmet, sunglasses, etc. Now if you think wearing cycling gear is embarrassing enough, how much more embarrassing will it be to wear it on a plane with no other fellow penguins to blend in with. If you are not so sure how much of a big deal this is, ask yourself this – would you do it? If your answer is NO, then please give generously. If it’s YES, then we have 5 places left, why don’t you sign up and I’ll reserve a place on my flight for you. To register: http://queenstownclassic.gofundraise.co.nz/ To make things even more interesting,I also pledge the following:

  • Help me raise $1500 and I will give up my car for a week and ride my bike to work
  • Help me raise $3000 and I’ll shave my legs
  • Help me raise $5000 and I’ll shave my head To support my ride and to be a change

EMAIL TEMPLATE #2

Dear friends, It’s been a cracking last two weeks and while I’ve been able to clock up a couple hundred kilometres on the bike, I’m been more impressed with the support I’ve received from YOU! So far you’ve helped

me to $2380 in online and offline donations. Thank you to those of you who have supported me, it’s been great encouragement to get on my bike. Staying true to the pledge I made a couple of weeks ago, next week I will leave my car at home and ride to work every day – a big effort considering

the amount of hills that lie between my home and work. If you are planning on supporting me, I have three weeks til the ride and three more pledges to honour. If you think dressing up like a penguin and boarding a plane couldn’t be more embarrassing, then how about a penguin with a shaved head. Join me in my journey to humiliation AND CHANGE by clicking on the following link: http://queenstownclassic.gofundraise.co.nz/page/MattSiliga To remind you of the pledges, please see below:

  • Help me raise $1500 and I will give up my car for a week and ride my bike to work
  • Help me raise $3000 and I’ll shave my legs
  • Help me raise $4000 and I’ll board the plane to Queenstown wearing nothing but my cycling gear
  • Help me raise $5000 and I’ll shave my head Thanks again for your support and I’ll be in touch soon.

P.S Thank you Murray Jennings for taking up the challenge and joining me on the ride. There is still space for a couple more people. If you are interested, sign up here: http://queenstownclassic.gofundraise.co.nz/ Let’s get those emails out and if you need assistance with fundraising please let me know. I’m happy to give you ideas and help out where I can. Happy and safe riding.

EMAIL TEMPLATE #3

Hey,

This month, my training for the Great Ocena rd challenge has begun to help fight kids poverty! I am aiming to ride [xyz] km this month in training for the ride in February.
Why am I doing this? Because 23,000 children die everyday from things that money can solve. It will be tough, but nothing compared to the difference what I am doing will have on the people I am supporting.

And so I am taking on a personal challenge to raise $2,500 to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. But I need your help. Please sponsor me to support my challenge and help these kids.

To make a donation, simply view my page by clicking on the link below: [www.25000spins_donationLink]

All funds raised will go directly to [CHARITY COMPASSION, ADRA, Botswana Orphan Project or Fred Hollows Foundation].

Thank you for your support.

EMAIL TEMPLATE #4

Hi,

As most of you know, I have been raising money for [Charity Name]. This year I have changed my focus a little. I have entered the [Event Name] bike ride and will be riding [Distance]kms to fight for people living in poverty on [Event Date].

Poverty is a problem which impacts much of our world. I am lucky enough to be an Australian. I can make a difference by taking part in this ride, because so many people cannot.

Did you know…

  • Around 27-28 percent of all children in developing countries are estimated to be underweight or stunted. The two regions that account for the bulk of the deficit are South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Water problems affect half of humanity. Some 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water, and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation.
  • Number of children in the world – 2.2 billion
  • Number in poverty – 1 billion (every second child)

Survival for children

  • 6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (same as children population in France, Germany, Greece and Italy)
  • 4 million die each year from lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation

But I need your help.

Can you PLEASE support my efforts by sponsoring my ride?

As per previous years, I should point out the following:

  1. After countless demands I am willing to supply photos of me in Lycra (keep in mind they will be of the new & improved 2013 version of me so I expect to see your appreciation reflected in increased donations…)
  2. I will be hounding you with weekly emails until you make a donation

On a serious note, I understand that not everybody is in a position to donate, but if you can, I would love your support in my endeavour. So even if you think you can’t donate, sacrifice a few coffees (preferably many) and make a donation to help me make a difference.

To sponsor my ride, simply click on the link below to view my fundraising page and make a donation:

A tax deductible receipt will be sent immediately when your donation is completed. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Hi All

Wow!!! What an awesome response from my first email last week. Here is the weekly follow up email as promised. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of you who have sponsored me over the last week. I really appreciate you getting behind this cause and sponsoring me for the ride.

For anyone who didn’t read the email properly last week, it is below,  so please if you didn’t, have a read. For all of you who have not yet donated, here is the link to save you scrolling down to the bottom of the email:

A few other points to note:

  1. I have attached a photo of me in lycra – you know you want to look…
    2.       No there is not an unsubscribe button as was requested by one cheeky future generous donator (hint)…
    3.       There will be an email each week until the ride
    4.       Thanks to those generous donations, I am currently sitting in [Your Position] Spot in the fundraising leader board, but I need your help to ensure I stay up there as there are plenty of other riders hot on my tail…

EMAIL TEMPLATE #6

Hi All

I want to pass on my thanks to all of you who have given so generously over the last 2 weeks. Honestly, thank you so much!!! In 2 weeks I have raised over $[0000 ] so thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have included the link below for those who have not yet donated & would like to.

A few more points to note:

  1. As stated in the title, I will not email you for the next 2 weeks & will not be contactable  (I am going into a secret training camp to prepare me for the ride) so WHEN you make a donation during this time, please know that it will be received with thanks even though I may not email you to say thank you for 2 weeks.
  2. Because of the outstanding response I got last week after sending out the photo of me in lycra, I have decided to attach another one – this one is not just of me, but also of some of the many team members I will be riding with on the day.
  3. To the Anonymous donor that asked that I take the donation off their bill, unfortunately I cannot work out from the photo you left who you are so I will not be able to do this…

Have a wonderful weekend everyone & I will be in contact with you in just over 2 weeks!

Regards

Hey mate! So… I’ve become one of you. I’ve become a cyclists in the name of child poverty. But fear not – unlike the rest of the crew that are raising money …. I refuse to wear lycra!

And for that reason alone I think you should sponsor me if you can ; ) (No worries if you’re not in a position to). So as you may or may not know i’m riding 300kms for child poverty in February along the Great Ocean rd. As you also may or may not know I’m a crap rider and have been busting my ass to try and get ready for this!!

And … as you may or may not know we have a sponsorship target of $1,250 – currently I’m sitting pretty at $430. arrgghh!!!

So – I’m on the hunt for a donation … of $10 or more ($1,000 would be useful at this stage hahaa). I’m riding for [Charity Name], the child sponsorship agency coz I sponsor a little girl called Yamerlin in the Dominican Republic. Its so awesome to see that a little bit of money goes so far and is so greatly appreciated.

I’m paying my own way to [Event Location], and taking a few days off work to do it – so if you wanna sponsor me I’d be heaps thankful!! You can sponsor me online here:

EMAIL TEMPLATE #9

While most people have been relaxing over the Summer over long weekends I’ve been up early training hard on my bike. Steep hills just like this one. This will be my second Tour 300km over 3 days.
Why? I’m committed to doing something about the terrible global issue that’s also affecting Kiwis, called child sex trafficking or modern day slavery. It is enslaving an est 4.5 million women & children today.
Children and women are cruelly tricked and then forced to perform unspeakable acts with their bodies. It’s a terrible, betrayal that is robbing them of their childhood and their innocence.

They’re made to feel dirty and full of shame. Broken! Most victims are kept in a drugged compliant state and 7 years is their life expectancy. Less than 1% are ever rescued. So I’m cycling for them.

I would love your support – please support my ride and the victims.

Your donation will go towards [CHARITY DETAILS and cause]

Here’s the impact of your donation:- To donate please Click here to support me and I will do my best to keep you updated with my training and my challenge.

But make sure you leave me a nice note so I know to thank you and to keep you informed.
