Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise?

I have been emailing, facebooking, pestering my friends, and running Norwex (cleaning products) parties. Everyone has been so generous with their support and donations. Most people can’t say no if you ask them face to face.
The most successful strategy has been emailing/Facebook messaging people directly with a message which is not copy and paste. Then staying in touch, and asking/reminding people face to face got the best results.
Posting things on my Facebook wall and sending bulk emails brought a couple of donations in, but the majority came from generous colleagues and friends who I followed up with regularly.

Q2: How have you found peoples interest in what you are doing?

People are very interested in adventures for a cause. It’s a great talking point in the office, and most were really keen to know how much you had trained that week, and how the ride went.

Q3: Have there been any surprises or interesting things happen to you as you fundraise?

I was surprised with how many people donated to help me reach my next ‘target goals’. Colleagues and friends would donate just to get me over the line.

Q4: How is your training coming along?

Training has been going well, with a couple of rides per week. Travel over the Christmas break meant that I wasn’t training as much just before the ride, but I still felt prepared.

Q5: What has kept you motivated to raise so much money?

I’m not very competitive on the bike, as I’m middle of the pack – but my goal was to double my fundraising efforts from the previous trip. This helped me to keep on asking and reminding people to donate. Every dollar counts and goes such a long way for those in need. When you aim high and achieve a great fundraising total, you know that so many lives will be changed for the better. I also love being at the top of the fundraising leaderboard 🙂

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? My friend Celia and I have a strategy to host two fundraising events to raise funds for Tearfund as well as to ask family and friends for direct support. We had our first event early November which was a movie night. We hired out our local cinema and charged guests $28 to see the wonderful new-release He Named me Malala and a drink.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? My approach has been to excite people to consider donating to the ride by offering a prize if they make a donation. Because I felt the request to donate occurs so frequently among my friends and also in the community I wanted to firstly capture their attention with a prize offer before sharing my request and more information about why I am asking for their financial support.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? The first thing I have done this year was to run a raffle at my local parkrun. People’s donations could be made online as per normal, or on the day. Most people donated on the day. I promoted the idea that for every $10 donated, people would receive 3 raffle tickets, or if they donated $5, then once ticket.
