Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise?

My friend Celia and I have a strategy to host two fundraising events to raise funds for Tearfund as well as to ask family and friends for direct support. We had our first event early November which was a movie night. We hired out our local cinema and charged guests $28 to see the wonderful new-release He Named me Malala and a drink. We made $18 on every ticket sale with a total profit of $1,200 which we split equally for our fundraising target for Tearfund. It was a fabulous evening and also acted as a recruitment for the Queenstown Classic with flyers for guests to take away. Our second event will be in January/Feb and is a Progressive Dinner on bikes. Watch this space!

Q2: How have you found peoples interest in what you are doing?

Guests were very interested and I’m hoping that we may have recruited 4 participants to join us in the QC

Q3: Have there been any surprises or interesting things happen to you as you fundraise?

Not yet but I do turn 50 before the QC so hoping for some generous donation.

Q4: How is your training coming along?

Good- Celia and I are off to do Taupo Challenge or at least half of it so this is also part of the strategy to be QC ready.

Q5: What has kept you motivated to raise so much money?

The cause is what motivates us; to bring freedom to the women and children facing the most heinous abuse: sex trafficking.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? My approach has been to excite people to consider donating to the ride by offering a prize if they make a donation. Because I felt the request to donate occurs so frequently among my friends and also in the community I wanted to firstly capture their attention with a prize offer before sharing my request and more information about why I am asking for their financial support.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? The first thing I have done this year was to run a raffle at my local parkrun. People’s donations could be made online as per normal, or on the day. Most people donated on the day. I promoted the idea that for every $10 donated, people would receive 3 raffle tickets, or if they donated $5, then once ticket.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? I’ve been bringing up the ride in general conversation over the last few months with family, friends and work colleagues to raise awareness of the fact I will be looking to raise money for Bikes4Life.
