Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise?

We have actually donate some money to our own cause, and started the donations out that way, to “”get the ball rolling””, so to speak. So our fundraising is higher than it might otherwise be at this point because we ourselves contributed to it. But we think that the cause is so worthwhile that we also would give money to it, and we demonstrated that by putting our money where our mouth is. Then we posted on facebook and sent out personal emails to people who we thought had both the funds and the interest to donate. I think the fact that we have supported people financially before when they were doing charity events makes them more likely to want to support us.

Q2: How have you found peoples interest in what you are doing?

People think it is really interesting and mostly they seem to want to help financially if they can–but they often forget to do this and we try to be thoughtful about when and how we gently remind them that we’re doing this.

Q3: Have there been any surprises or interesting things happen to you as youfundraise?

As Tommy has done this before, I’m not sure anything surprised him, but I was surprised at how much my family gave to help me along, even though they don’t have lots of extra money.

Q4: How is your training coming along?

We are doing lots of riding right now because Tommy did two long distance bike events and trained for those this spring and we took a biking vacation in Montana in May. So we’ve been riding a lot for fun, not just for this event.

Q5: What has kept you motivated to raise so much money?

Tommy has done these trips before and knows what a great experience they are and keeps his energy for fundraising up that way.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? My friend Celia and I have a strategy to host two fundraising events to raise funds for Tearfund as well as to ask family and friends for direct support. We had our first event early November which was a movie night. We hired out our local cinema and charged guests $28 to see the wonderful new-release He Named me Malala and a drink.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? My approach has been to excite people to consider donating to the ride by offering a prize if they make a donation. Because I felt the request to donate occurs so frequently among my friends and also in the community I wanted to firstly capture their attention with a prize offer before sharing my request and more information about why I am asking for their financial support.

Q1: What have you been doing to fundraise? The first thing I have done this year was to run a raffle at my local parkrun. People’s donations could be made online as per normal, or on the day. Most people donated on the day. I promoted the idea that for every $10 donated, people would receive 3 raffle tickets, or if they donated $5, then once ticket.
