Q1. What is the main focus of your charity?

World Vision is a Christian, humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome extreme poverty and injustice.  World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

World Vision New Zealand is part of the World Vision International Partnership, the world’s largest non-governmental humanitarian and development agency, operating in more than 100 countries. World Vision New Zealand supports development and humanitarian aid programs in close to 30 countries.

Here at World Vision New Zealand, we aim to effectively engage all New Zealanders in the fight against poverty by offering practical ways for people to get involved. We’re thrilled to partner with 25000Spins – an adventure with social impact!

Q2. How important are donations to your charity?

In the two minutes it will take you to read this page 30 children under the age of 5 will die because of preventable poverty-related causes. This is simply not acceptable. To tackle poverty we need to be smart, we need to be innovative and we need support from people like you – supporters who want to become true catalysts for change – not simply by writing cheques, but by leveraging their skills, passions and networks to raise profile and funds for the fight against poverty. Donations take many forms.

As a charitable organization, much of World Vision’s work is reliant on the generous financial support of people who share our vision of a more just and equitable world. To honour the generosity of our supporters, World Vision pursues the highest standards of stewardship and accountability. This is reflected in full internal and external audits, well-designed, monitored, and evaluated programs, and regular reporting on the progress made in the communities where we work.

Q3. What difference will your donation make?

Funds raised through 25000Spins will help support improved Maternal Child Health and Nutrition for our Pacific neighbours in Papua New Guinea. PNG has the worst maternal and infant mortality rates in the Asia Pacific region, second only to Afghanistan. The reality in Madang Province, where World Vision is working, is sobering: one in ten children will not reach their 5th birthday.

Yet, there is hope! Globally we know that 80% of current maternal deaths could be prevented through access to basic health care services. In addition, educating mothers and caregivers on nutrition, low-cost vitamin and mineral supplements, exclusive breastfeeding and early detection systems are effective ways to prevent newborn and child malnutrition.

You can be part of the solution in Papua New Guinea.
